Four English tips that teachers haven’t told you !!!
Today we are going to look at the tips you need to know to learn English. Have you ever heard such statements as “my friend has a diploma and still can’t say a few simple English sentences”, “I know other people who have got bachelors and masters degrees and even doctoral degrees but they aren’t still able to speak or understand news. ” Are you one of these people or do you know at least someone who is facing such a situation? Is it the fault of these people’s intelligence? In this article, we look at the reasons for this problem in 4 reasons.
These 4 tips include:
The first and, perhaps, one of the most important English tips you need to know in English: You must first learn spoken English and then learn to read and write.
If you become familiar with spoken conversation patterns, it will be easy for you to read and write. Many people are very slow to speak and are obsessive in their choice of words and are constantly trying to correct sentences. As if they are writing an article.
Remember that speaking in all languages is a top priority compared to reading and writing. For example, consider the same Persian language. We could all speak fairly well before learning to read and write. And it’s not because we’ve been trained for twelve years behind the school bench. It’s because we used this language as a means of communication long before we started school.
Now my question is, “Is learning English or any other language an exception to this rule?” Of course not!
The second tip to know in English: The vocabulary bank consists of both active and passive vocabulary.
You don’t have to attribute your inability to speak English or any other language to things like genetics, weather, lack of time, etc. The subject refers to active vocabulary and passive vocabulary. Active vocabulary includes vocabulary and idioms that we use easily when speaking, and inactive vocabulary that contains a lot of vocabulary that are not easily understood in the language. The secret to boosting your active vocabulary is to speak as much English as possible or any other language you want to learn.
The traditional English language teaching system that dominated our schools until a couple of years ago had two advantages. First, by over-emphasizing vocabulary exercises and comprehension, it has deepened the range of passive vocabulary that has virtually no help in enhancing students’ speaking skills. Second, it has provided some publishers with a lucrative market to generate multibillion-dollar profits by publishing textbooks, lessons, exam nights, final steps, and so forth. By the way, how much have you spent on buying these books so far? Still, can you speak English easily?
The third tip for learning English you should know: English grammar is a natural and integral part of English conversation. So you don’t have to learn the rules separately.
List of irregular verbs, timetables, conditional sentences, …. Throw away all! Yes, do not be surprised, just enough to put the words together. Of course, if you are going to become a linguist, this will be different. Most people do not need to know, for example, the complete future form of the verb “to understand” is “I will have understood”.
Interestingly, native speakers do not use such structures themselves in everyday conversations. Therefore, why should we spend our precious time putting these useless or sometimes useless materials into our minds?
The most effective thing to do is to focus on learning applied grammar through speaking skills. Thus the true patterns of spoken English are engraved in mind.
So every time you go to the bookstore, buy a novel or English story instead of choosing books with colorful titles like “Advanced English Grammar” and things like that. In this way you have exposed your eyes to English and you will also learn the essentials of English grammar.
The fourth tip you should know: Imitating the spoken tone of English speakers and learning the words within the context are the natural process of learning English. However, translating word-for-word sentences and their syntax according to Farsi is the opposite of this process.
Make sure you remember English ringtones in your schools. “…. Well, dear children, write three words in Farsi meaningful words. “Or” … Open the workbooks and answer the exercises in this lesson. We were encouraged by this style of teaching to think more in Farsi than in English, and when we were trying to use the adjective in the sentence we would say according to the rules of Persian grammar: it is a flower beautiful!
You see, there is no trace of the natural English learning process in the current teaching approaches having been used in Iranian education system! In short, the traditional methods of English teaching still found in universities are not able to provide its graduates with the least amount of fluency in psychology. We hope these 4 English tips could have produced the least therapeutic effects on the methods of learning English, and could help learners evaluate and select a better way of learning.
