Know your English level
Before you start, know what level you are at. In order to be able to notice your progress after a while, you must first know what your initial level of English is. You need to know where you have been and where you are now. In this case, talking to a an English teacher and getting his/her advice will be a great help. They will tell you how many hours a day you have to study to reach your desired level.
Participate in English Classes
A classroom is a great place to learn English and is also one of the most important steps in English learning.
Set up weekly exams for yourself
Self-assessment is essential and will keep you motivated, so try it on a weekly basis. In a month, take one exam on the same level each week. You will notice that your scores go higher and higher every week, and this is a sign of your progress. I advise you, after rating, not to replace the wrong answers with the correct ones. Keep your wrong answers as we need them for monitoring. Schedule the first, second, third and fourth exam, and at the end of the month, compare your answers, specially your wrong answers, together so that you can monitor your progress after each exam.
Make a plan for your English learning outside of the class
Having a regular program can help you a lot. English is elusive, and if it is not repeated over and over again, it will be quickly forgotten. So, you need to set a schedule for your English learning to practice outside of the class, even if you have little time for it during the day. This program should serve your purpose. That means you have to know what you will achieve by running this program. Simply put, we all have an end goal that we can break down into smaller goals, and step by step we can achieve those smaller goals.
Improve all four English skills altogether
Try to improve all your skills equally and do not ignore them. Most learners are not good enough at writing skills and have problems with this part in tests. Hence learning all of the four English skills, in addition to developing your English proficiency, will add variety to the process and make it more exciting.
